Ahmed represented Pakistan in 41 Test matches, amassing a total of 2,991 runs which included five centuries and 16 half-centuries.
Additionally, he contributed with his right-arm off-spin bowling, taking 22 wickets. His Test debut occurred against West Indies in the Bridgetown Test of 1958, and he concluded his Test career during Pakistan's tour of Australia in 1972/73 in Melbourne.Saeed Ahmed served as Pakistan's sixth Test captain, succeeding Hanif Mohammad during England's tour of Pakistan in 1969.
