Sadaf Naeem, a Pakistani reporter lost her life while covering PTI Long March

Sadaf Naeem, a reporter from Channel 5 in an terrible accident had lost her life. Naeem, 36, fell from the container and crushed to death on the spot from another container. The tragic death of the young journalist had gathered condolences from various political leaders including President Arif Alvi, Shehbaz Sharif, and Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi.

In consideration of the tragic event, Imran Khan ended the long march Sadhoke phase. Khan rushed to the accident spot and ongoing activities were put on hold. PTI chairman expressed his deepest condolences to the family of Sadaf Naeem. In a tweet, he informed the public about canceling the march. 

Shocked & deeply saddened by the terrible accident that led to the death of Channel 5 reporter Sadaf Naeem during our March today. I have no words to express my sorrow. My prayers & condolences go to the family at this tragic time. We have cancelled our March for today.

In an interview with a news channel, Sadaf’s father mourned the death of his young daughter. His father said she was hard-working and determined woman. In addition, his father cautioned her to stay safe while covering the news. She was happy to interview former Prime Minister Imran Khan in 2012. Sadaf is a mother to two kids. Sadaf was an experienced journalist working in the field for 12 years. PM Shehbaz Sharif has announced a financial help of Rs 5 million to the family of the deceased journalist.

Funeral Prayers

The funeral prayers for the deceased have been offered today (Monday) in Lahore in the Ichra area. The body has been laid to rest in Miani Sahib Graveyard. A large gathering of family, friends, political leaders, and journalists gathered for her final rites. Fawad Chaudhry, Omar Sarfraz Cheema, and Mian Aslam Iqbal were present.

PTI Long March

The Long March started from Lahore and will end in the capital city. The call for the long march is fair and early elections. PTI Chairman insisted his supporters refrain from any violent activity.
