Govt working on policy to promote football, women’s sports in Pakistan: PM

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said the government is working on a policy to promote football and women’s sports in Pakistan.

He said this in a tweet on Friday, while responding to extra ordinary performance of Pakistan's women team and the victory of Saudi Arabia in the four-nation women football tournament played in the Kingdom.

The Prime Minister congratulated Saudi Arabia for winning this tournament.

He said we are also proud of Pakistan's Women’s National Team for second position in the event. He extended special congratulations to Maria Khan for scoring the spectacular goal.

It is pertinent to mention that Saudi Arabia recorded a 1-1 draw in its final match of the tournament against Pakistan on Thursday night to top the Women’s International Friendly Tournament table with 7 points.

Pakistan finished second in the table with 4 points, with Comoros and Mauritius following with 3 points respectively.
