iPhone 16 could have game-changing new button

Design renders show an extra toggle dubbed the "Capture Button" located on the right side of the phone – and it could revolutionise the selfie.

With one press the button will snap photos and start video clips and will offer users an alternative to tapping away at the screen.

And this isn't the only button change Apple have up their sleeve.

The "Action Button" – the small button above the volume controls on the left edge – will get bigger - the images suggest.

The new renders, obtained by 91mobiles, are CAD (computer-aided design) files, which are given to third-party manufacturers of iPhone cases ahead of a device's launch.

According to the site, the Capture Button will be below the usual location of the power button, on the phone's edge, to the right of the screen.

The site said: "A Capture Button will be present below the power button to allow for better control of the camera system."

It added: " (It) is expected to enable features such as adjusting focus and zoom levels besides being a trigger for photo and video capture."

The button will have "capacitive touch functionality", meaning it will sense the touch of a human finger and respond to particular movements.

One idea is that lightly tapping on the button will adjust focus and zoom, while actually pressing the button down will take the photo or start the video.

The brilliant new button could mean iPhone users spend less time tapping and swiping at the screen to use the camera.

Mystery iPhone ‘running icon’ appears on cell as fans say ‘I’ve never seen that before’ – the real purpose is so usefulThese new renders are only for the Pro and it's likely the two cheapest iPhone 16 models may not get the Capture Button.

According to the latest leaked images of the iPhone 16, the tech giant will also change the camera lenses on the back of the phone.

The standard version of iPhone 16 will have two camera lenses arranged vertically, not diagonally like on the iPhone 15, the images suggest.

Due to be released in September, iPhone 16 is expected to be the most expensive smartphone that Apple has ever released, according to some reports.

It's expected to top the iPhone 15, which starts at £799 for the standard model, while the most expensive variation, the Pro Max, starts at £1,199 and goes up to £1,599 for 1TB of storage.
